States: “Hasbunallahu wa ni`mal Wakil”
Meaning: Allah (alone) is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs (for us) (3:173)
Commentary: When the Prophet lbraheem (Abraham) – Alayhissalaam was thrown into a raging fire by the tyrannical king Nimrod, he uttered these very words. Thereupon, Allah cooled the flames for him so that they became safe, calm and peaceful.
The purity in this very statement “Hasbunallahu wa ni`mal Wakil”, is absolute and for the artist the inspiration is at the same time, compelling, forceful and serene. The calligraphy has been purposefully offset, allowing for a vast expanse of white to illustrate the common perception of all that is pure.
The choice of crystal was carefully selected to compliment the underlying theme.
The canvas was treated to multiple layers of acrylic paints. The process was ongoing for a number of weeks, with base layers intermittently sand blasted to create the deep textured effect.
